Rendezvous with Information Systems Researchers

A Workshop on Research in Action, Field Insights and Research Methods

AIS India Chapter (INAIS) co-hosted an online workshop – webinar series on Information Systems research methods in action, jointly with Centre for Software & Information Technology Management, IIM Bangalore. 

This workshop was targeted at Ph.D. and Master’s students and young faculty members. The purpose was to familiarize participants with different methods typically used in information systems research focusing more on assuaging concerns that they may have in the application of a particular method while giving them a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes surprises (pleasant as well as challenges) that the researcher faced while conducting a particular study. 

The methods covered in this workshop include Theory Building, Retroduction in Critical Realism, Ethnography, Field Experiments, Qualitative Comparative Analysis, Agent-based Simulation, Experimental methods, Econometric modelling, etc.

The speakers included Andrew Burton-Jones, Chrisanthi Avgerou, M N Ravishankar, Sudha Ram, Anjana Susarla, Shirish C. Srivastava, Thomas Widjaja, Tejaswini Herath, Ryan Wright, Janaki Srinivasan and Balaji Padmanabhan.  We concluded the series with a panel discussion by Robert Davison and Richard Watson.
